ABOUT
SAVE OREGON WRESTLING

Our Story

Save Oregon Wrestling was formed by the late Hall of Fame Coach Ron Finley and former UO Assistant Head Coach Rick Stewart on July 13, 2007, the very day the sport’s elimination from the University was first announced. We began fundraising to build an endowment that could secure the future of Oregon Wrestling.

Today, we’re advancing our mission through raising awareness and goodwill about our sport, growing our endowment, expanding the wrestling fan base and connecting its community, building positive public relations, awarding honorary scholarships to outstanding Oregon preps who aspire to wrestle in college, and sharing the story of wrestling. We are a nimble, non-profit, all-volunteer organization with deep ties to the university and the wrestling community. We see new opportunities before us and are excited about the future.

There are currently more than 33,300 kids who wrestle in the Great Northwest. We know their huge hearts. We know their outstanding character. We know how hard they work at everything, and how big they dream. We also know their unique value within the university community and to its educational mission. We are their relentless advocates.

We want to see them achieve their high athletic and academic goals where they can add to the glory of the University of Oregon, and inspire the next generation of Oregon Wrestlers.
